Europe trip with baby- Giethoorn, The Venice of the North (Day 4)
October 5, 2016
Today I finally used the kitchen to cook a meal, sometimes it was good to stay with owner, he often cooked at home and his kitchen was clean and got everything that we need. I had been craving for hot soup, so I cooked a bowl of hot tomato borscht soup from tomato puree. Aww…… It felt so good.
Today we will be visiting Giethoorn, it is also called Venice of the north. This village was very unique as it did not have roads for car, it only fully accessible by boat. It took us 1 hour 20min to reach Giethoorn.
This place was so peaceful and serene, we felt so relax by enjoying the nice ambiance. Boating is tourists most favorite activity here, you can rent a small electric boat that can accommodate 3-4 peoples or you can follow the organized boat tours to explore the village. We regretted we did not plan to overnight here, imagine I can stay in one of these beautiful cottage, it must be awesome.
After walked for quite long, we were tired and hungry. We walked into a cafe name De Babbelaar cafe, it provided with free Wi-Fi. The weather was getting quite cold, we felt so warmed when we get into the cafe. We ordered hot chocolate and coffee, spaghetti and one of the local favorite, Dutch pancakes. The pancake tasted really delicious.
This was a wonderful place for babies, it was so quiet till we can only hear the quaking from the ducks. It is so different from other attractions we had visited. In future, if I go Netherlands again, I definitely will visit Giethoorn and stay longer time here.
This blog was started when I got Cookie (Golden retriever) into my house, initially is all about pets and then it extended to talk all about my life, my daughters Chestnut and Jane, my travel experiences, recipes and my passion towards art and crafts.
So it kinds of "Rojak" blog, that tells about everything that I love and experience. And I'm happy with my "rojak" life.
